Troy mayor announces electronic recycling, paper shredding, tire disposal event – troyrecord

TROY, N.Y. — Mayor Patrick Madden recently announced that the city will host a free materials collection event for Collar City residents to recycle electronics. Paper shredding and tire disposal will also be available at the event. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 10, and will be held at the Troy Resource Management Facility (former Alamo site) located at the corner of E. Industrial Parkway and Main Street. Registration is required to participate in the event and is limited to Troy residents only.

“Recycling electronics and other non-biodegradable items helps protect our environment and reduce costs for solid waste management by diverting these recyclable items from local landfills. I encourage Troy residents to register for this useful program to declutter their homes and properties and help keep Troy clean and green this fall,” Madden said.

“Everyone has old computers, televisions, and other electronic devices stored in their basement or garage. Now is the perfect opportunity to clear these unwanted items from your home. We’re excited to offer this free recycling event to Troy residents and families this September and invite the public to register,” Deputy Mayor Chris Nolin added.

Online registration is available at www.troyny.gov/electronics. Registration is first come, first served. Each participant will be assigned a drop-off time via email. This will keep wait times as short as possible. Emails will be sent approximately one week before the event. Registrants should check spam and junk folders for an email from namoi.pitkin@troyny.gov.

Residents without access to the internet may register in person at City Hall, or by calling Recycling Specialist Naomi Pitkin at (518) 279-7313.

Note: Each registrant may bring one television or computer up to 25 pounds at no charge. For every additional five pounds, there will be a $5 charge. Participants should note there will be a disposal fee for tires:
