Tesla Starts Offering PPF and Wrap Service in 7 Colors and Clear Option

Tesla has been sporting some creative wraps on its Cybertruck. In July, we speculated that perhaps Tesla was considering getting into the wrap business. Now we have our answer. Tesla has launched premium color wraps for the Model 3 and Model Y. Although Tesla may not stop there.

Before we get the Cybertruck angle, the wrap itself is a story. It is available exclusively through Tesla. These wraps allow for a splash of personal style and offer protection. The self-healing, urethane-based film (PPF) shields the vehicle's original paint from potential damage like chips, scratches, and even the dreaded paint swirl. Ppf Plotter Machine

Tesla Starts Offering PPF and Wrap Service in 7 Colors and Clear Option

Customers can choose from a range of seven vibrant and exclusive colors. Those interested in the subtler spectrum can opt for Satin Stealth Black or Slip Grey, priced at $7,500. However, for those wishing to make a more vivid statement, Glacier Blue, Satin Rose Gold, Forest Green, Satin Ceramic White, and Crimson Red are available at a premium of $8,000. Although these wraps come at a premium, they offer more protection than a standard wrap.

Furthermore, for individuals looking to maintain their original car color while enjoying the protective benefits, the Model 3/Y Clear Wrap option is available for $5,000. Installations are currently being managed at two primary Tesla Service Centers in West Covina and Carlsbad, California. Right now these wraps are also limited to 2023 model years of the 3 and Y.

From a camouflage design to the surprising Ford F-150 mockup, Cybertruck sightings with unique wraps make sense. Given the Cybertruck's single-tone stainless steel design, such customizations would allow owners to differentiate their vehicles on the roads.

In previous statements, Elon Musk hinted at the possibility of Cybertruck owners wrapping their vehicles in "any color or pattern." Could the introduction of the Model 3 and Model Y wrap service, be just the first step? Given the Cybertruck's unique design, which we previously likened to a blank canvas, there's a vast playground for potential customizations.

Tesla's move in the US mirrors its initiatives in China, where the company has a wrapping service to provide their vehicles with a rejuvenated appearance, offsetting their limited paint options.

This strategic move could address the critique regarding the monotony of Tesla's vehicle color schemes. Beyond production efficiencies, introducing wraps could offer Tesla owners a bespoke vehicle experience, showcasing their individual flair. As we anticipate the launch of Cybertruck, incorporating customizable wraps might signal a redefining moment in EV personalization.

Tesla's venture into vehicle wraps for Model 3 and Model Y could be a prelude to a more expansive customization offering, potentially for the eagerly-awaited Cybertruck. As Tesla was born and raised in California, incorporating the wrap business in that state will give the company a good idea of customer demand, even before the Cybertruck.

Tesla's Full Self-Driving Beta version 12 has a new feature that makes the computer on wheels drive much more naturally. As we’ve reported, v12.1.2, which is now going out to some customers, is not just another FSD update; it’s said it removes more than 300,000 lines of code and replaces it with an end-to-end neural network.

The neural network has been trained on millions of video clips, improving the system's capability to handle complex driving situations. Now AI is regulating another aspect of FSD, automatic speeds. Instead of following the speed limit and the offset you provide in settings, FSD will now determine appropriate speeds based on a variety of factors.

FSD Beta v12 automatically adjusts the vehicle's speed to match the surrounding environment better. This optional feature, found under the "Controls > Autopilot" menu, gives the vehicle more freedom regarding its speed, allowing it to keep up with traffic even if it’s higher than the speed limit (which is already in the current FSD Beta), and the vehicle ends up acting more like a human.

In FSD Beta v11.4.7, Tesla added the ability for the vehicle to override the maximum speed set by the user. When this happened, the vehicle’s max speed on the display would turn blue and the message “Maintaining speed for traffic flow” would appear. This allowed the vehicle to temporarily increase its maximum speed to keep up with traffic. The new ‘Automatic Set Speed Offset’ seems to be a natural progression of this feature.

With this update, Tesla owners no longer need to manually set a speed offset as a percentage of the speed limit. Instead, the "Automatic Set Speed Offset" option allows Autopilot to determine the most natural driving speed based on road type, traffic and other conditions. When the option is enabled, Tesla will display “Auto” on the vehicle’s display where the vehicle’s max speed is normally shown.

Tesla explains the feature in the vehicle’s menu, stating, “Automatic Set Speed Offset allows Autopilot to drive at the speed that it determines is most natural. This considers factors like road type, traffic flow, environmental conditions, speed limit, and the selected Full Self-Driving (Beta) Profile setting (Chill, Average, or Assertive).”

This feature was also observed in action during Elon Musk's livestream, where his maximum speed was set quite high yet the car consistently maintained a reasonable speed limit. This demonstrates the feature's ability to adapt to various driving conditions while ensuring safety and compliance with traffic laws.

The Tesla Model 3 is back under wraps. Yes, the mysterious capes have returned, covering the front and back of the sedan. But the new Model 3 is available, and nothing is left to hide, right? These sightings suggest that Tesla might be on the verge of unveiling an upgraded Model 3 Performance, a variant that is still not on the ordering page.

The Model 3 has already received kudos for its spectacular refreshed version. It’s no longer known as the Highland, an apparent myth; the Model 3 has several new features and updated interior and exterior designs. But it doesn’t have a Performance Model, with those unique seats and badging.

Recent sightings have revealed another Tesla prototype is rooming the streets of California. This prototype, sporting performance red brake calipers and covered in camouflage at the front and rear, indicates that Tesla might be planning additional body modifications for this high-performance model. The presence of the covers, especially given the already unveiled new designs of other trims, strongly suggests that Tesla is fine-tuning unique design elements for the Model 3 Performance. @WidgeonRBLX gave us a better look on his X post, stating: I highlighted some differences here in blue, possible brake cooling?

The Tesla has a unique front splitter, distinguishing it from its siblings. The presence of a Ludicrous badge, a term synonymous with Tesla's performance prowess, has also been rumored.

Tesla's approach to the Model 3 Performance appears to be more ambitious this time around. Past iterations, while impressive, were somewhat restrained due to production challenges. With those hurdles largely overcome, Tesla now has the opportunity to unleash the potential of the Model 3 Performance fully. This suggests a vehicle that is not just an incremental update but a significant leap forward in Tesla's pursuit of electric vehicle excellence.
